GapWell co-founders Lee Sosin & Seth Kessler were joined by GapWell Guide student contributor Miles (NYU '26) on episode #70 of Mary Miele's podcast from Evolved Education Company.

The key learnings from our GapWell Guide product offering underly how important it is for parents of college-bound teens to recognize that a lot has changed since they were in college (if they were in college at all). Ultimately, parents have a very important role to play, but it's not necessarily what they think.

I just love that all of you are really coming to this work with a genuine desire to help people.

Mary Miele, Founder & CEO, Evolved Education

This 50-minute dynamic conversation touches on all the things that parents need to recognize as their teenage sons & daughters head off to college, including the following:

  • college is hard

  • 82% of college students report experiencing "A LOT" of stress in college

  • not every day is going to be the best 4 years of their life

This conversation is an important one for parents of college-bound teens to hear as they want to set their teens up for success, but sometimes success requires failure first. While that can be hard for many parents, it's an important ingredient for success in building resilience and "grit" that will serve their kids well in college and in their career.

They're going to fail more often than they succeed, and that's totally normal and that's okay.

Seth Kessler, co-founder, GapWell

The same is true for parents. They will likely not get everything right as they move into this next chapter, but with thoughtful planning, they will set their kids up for success ... and that is well worth the investment.
